One of the largest national groups is the Clandestine Cake Club, set up by Lynn Hill in Leeds in 2010, immediately after the first series of the show. There are now 200 regional organisations, with 10,000 bakers sharing 7,000 cakes. “Baking clubs are the new book groups and I hope they are here to stay,” says Hill.
